  • I have oral allergy syndrome! It's so nice to see someone talk about it. My doctor didn't refer to an allergist when I brought up the possibility, and he said he'd have to look into it because he'd never heard of it before. We did an allergy test, and I'm apparently allergic to ash pollen, which is consistent with OAS. Unfortunately for me, my OAS is triggered by raw carrots and raw celery, both of which I love, but I have to give up. Fortunately, cooking does make them safe to eat for me.

  • It's the protein in the saliva, and urine. Just like people, some cats and dogs make more proteins than others. Like you can be more sensitive to one cat than another. Also my doctor wants me to have a second round of immunotherapy for my allergies bc it's been 10 years since the last, but I can't get through the 2 weeks without any antihistamines. By the third day my skin literally feels like is crawling, I'm an itchy sneezy, watery mess.

  • I love this. I was recently diagnosed with a true allergy to egg whites. My whole life I got a horrible stomachache every time I ate eggs. Now I know I'm not crazy and I cut out eggs and I feel much better! But my reactions are getting worse eat time I do accidentally have eggs 😔 I wonder at what point I should get an EpiPen? Last time I had an allergic reaction, my whole face puffed up, I got congested, and my tongue started to swell and get tingly. It went away after a little while but it was scary and I don't know what to do about it now. I'm in the process of finding a new doctor because I don't trust my current one and I don't know how to find a trustworthy doctor.

  • I take the full prescription of penicillin before developing hives, rash and difficulty breathing. I've taken it three times in my life and each time the reaction got worse. The first time was on my ankles & feet. The second time was the knees down and the last time was full body hives inside and out. I think I have a true allergy to penicillin. I've been asked which penicillin I reacted to, but have no idea since it occurred between 1962 and 1972. I've reacted to Bactrim with a full body burning itchy rash.

Herbs are now used to cure diabetics, herpes, chronic pain, asthma, Ovarian Cyst and even HIV. I like herbs so much. Most of the time, the injection and the drug are only a loss of duration. I was cured of HIV last year with the use of herbs, I suffered from HIV for 13 years, but with the help of DR. Freeman Osas Herbal Medicine, I was cured in a few weeks of using the herbs he sent me by mail Service Delivery. I don't know the kind of health problem you are facing right now, but I assured you that you will be cured if you contact Dr. Freeman Osas and explain your problem to him, that the issues will resolve in a few weeks , contact Dr. Freeman Osas by his e-mail address: drosasherbalhome@gmail.com or reach him via WHATSAP number +2349050514983

  • Dr. Mike - love the channel! How often do you refer your patients to their optometrist or ophthalmologist to get their intraocular eye pressure checked after starting steroids? A third of the general population will have a moderate increase in IOP (IOP between 25-31mmHg) after starting any steroid (oral, ophthalmic, injection, nasal spray). 4-6% have a severe steroid response (>31mmHg). www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK430903/

  • This is an excellent video. Also, @Doctor Mike, you should check out this resource: examine.com/about/ and see whether you think it's good to recommend it to your viewers. Examine.com independently reviews data from reputable sources associated with supplements and don't sell supplement products themselves. They're very committed to remaining independent to avoid that conflict of interest. They provide evidence-based recommendations on supplements that are easy to read and interpret by both clinicians and lay people. In addition to discussing the supplements I take with my health care providers, I have looked up supplements on their website to help inform my decision to take it or not. I have no affiliation with that site.

I have a question though Dr. Stukus: When you have a patient with a history of penicillin skin rash, like dr. mike, would you consider just adding antihistamine to a future penicillin treatment or would you definitely advise against using this type of AB altogether?

  • Honestly I believe we have less allergies in Germany because people aren't as scared about them and just expose their kids to stuff and we will see if anything happens or not. We can't live in fear of anything happening and we should just give kids food we also eat and just know what symptoms are and how to react if anything does happen.

  • My partners immune therapy for cats was cuddling with our bengal cats a lot who produce less of the enzyme he reacts to so he never had any allergic reaction to them. His body was around low amounts of the enzyme all the time and eventually stopped freaking out, even his allergy doctor was shocked how well that worked for him. No reactions to other cats now either and he loves it. Still is allergic to dust though but he is working on that with his doctor now.

But I got used to my moms dogs as I spent time with them but after not living with her for a while now when I go over there I sneeze a whole lot and my nose gets very congested from sneezing so much. It’s almost like if you stop drinking for a while you lose your tolerance and get drunk more easily. It’s weird.

  • Pluto is a dwarf planet apart of the Kuiper belt, a huge ring of asteroids right outside of our solar system. Astronomers have named two other dwarf planets in this belt, Haumea and Makemake, with Pluto being the biggest of the three. These dwarf planets all share a similar orbit that is different from the other planets in the solar system, they are much smaller than the other planets, and they are within a greater asteroid belt at the end of the solar system. These are some of the many reasons they are categorized differently.

  • I have to vouch for allergy shots! When I was 4 my family moved halfway across the US and the new environment introduced me to a host of new trees, plants, and bugs that I proved to be sensitive to. I was diagnosed with severe asthma (nebulizer twice per day, and pneumonia a few times per year) and I was constantly sick with allergies/ upper respiratory stuff. I started shots at 6 and within two years I was living a mostly normal life. I still got pneumonia once or twice per year until 12, when I seemed to "grow out" of the asthma when I went through puberty. The shots enabled me to go outside and play. We could have pets. I could have stuffed animals. I cannot say if the shots led to the outgrowing of the asthma, but I know I had less asthma symptoms over that time too. I was even able to play sports as a teenager, where as a child I ended up coughing on the side of the soccer field until I vomited. Try shots, parents! They help!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE dogs and cats but I can't have a cat at home, but I can have hypoallergenic dogs, I don't let them lick me because that causes my allergies to flare up but I can play with them, and walk them and feed them. Hypoallergenic dogs don't shed, they smell different and I can feel in my hands and they don't have as much saliva (dander) to deal with. Since I LOVE LOVE LOVE dogs I've volunteered in shelters and I fostered... I can feel the difference in each dog and smell the environment and that does make a difference on my breathing and my allergies. My allergies have been better because I'm focusing on my nutrition but they are manageable and still never goes away.

Or does Pluto get demoted.. the criteria for “planet” was altered and Pluto no longer fits this criteria... therefore; no longer a planet!

  • Does oral allergy syndrome also explain mouth itching with walnuts?

  • Very interesting. I am to be fair very allergic to many things, I've made treatment during my teen years, I need to go for treatment with an Allergist again, and one of the things I have most reactions nowadays is to milk (i'm allergic to milk protein). What I think it's very weird is that when I got tested years ago, I used to have minimal allergic reactions, so I didn't care that much and continued to consume milk, however, within a couple years I started having more severe allergic reactions, and up to this day everytime it get's worse, and I need to check everything to see if theres milk innit etc, even some flu shots that has milk protein on its composition, i experienced a considerable allergic response, but not immediately (never had an anaphylactic shock, but now i'm starting to be afraid I could have one)

  • I’m not alone! 😭 Fresh apples make my mouth itch so much! Sometimes people judge me for being a full grown adult who sliced apples and eats around the skins. 😒

  • Excuse me!? I have tried many years to get the flu shot, and EVERY SINGLE TIME I get full body hives, tongue swelling, eyes swelling shut and itchy throat. But I eat eggs with no issues. Sooooo......?

  • So, in terms of flu shots, how would you explain side effects? i've only seen resources saying they don't exist, and doctors have only told me it's not from flu shots. My experience, however, has been that every year I get the flu shot, I have full body aches and weakness, itching everywhere, dizziness, and sometimes nausea and stomach issues. Severity goes from "this is yucky but I'm still alive" to "this is debilitating and worse than the flu," changes from year to year. (One year I couldn't raise my arm above 90 degrees for half the year, but that was from Walgreens and hurt like a mf on injection, which makes me think that one was from the needle rather than the vaccine. Other than that one, injection is usually 99% painless) If it weren't for the health and safety of those around me, I wouldn't get the flu shot. I would honestly rather have the flu, but I wouldn't want to give it to anyone around me. It's all honestly kinda, idk, isolating. Everything else I experience, there's someone else to say "oh, me too." With this it's just "no, that's impossible, so it's not happening." Possibly maybe relevant information: The only thing I've ever had a *severe* reaction to was Gardacil. They thought my symptoms were a coincidence on the first dose, but after I reacted worse to my second one they decided to stop giving it. (If someone who's not a doctor is for some reason reading this random comment, they usually give three rounds). I *have* noticed recently that I get an angry stomach with eggs, but I still need to talk with my doctor about it to figure out if it's an intolerance or coincidence. (It's not an allergy (well, I'm not a doctor, but I really doubt it), I've eaten eggs my whole life without anaphylaxis. I've had stomach issues my entire life, which got much better when I stopped eating eggs.) I know you said that egg allergy can't affect flu shots, I just thought it would be relevant to mention. My question for Dr Mike is why? Whyyy do I react so badly, and why am I always told it's not real? My question for anyone randomly scrolling through the comments, do you relate? I just want to hear from atleast one person who's experienced this too cuz it's scary and aaaaaa
